DETECTIVES FOLLOWING UP LEADS ON BOMB THREAT
At approximately 9:59 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to Walmart, located at 17309 Interstate 30, for a report of a bomb threat. Employees told officers they received a phone call of a man threatening to “blow up Walmart tonight.”
A resident’s call to 911 after seeing a man attempting to remove a window air-conditioner unit from the home led to an arrest. At approximately 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to Dalewood Drive, but the suspect had fled the area.

A public hearing will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, in the administrative division of the Benton Police Department. Information regarding a federal grant application for desktop computers will be presented at the public hearing.
At approximately 10:32 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to 221 Gunn Street for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival officers located an unresponsive male with a gunshot wound lying in the doorway of a residence.
