Benton, Ark.- Nov. 21, 2024— Benton Police Department officers were patrolling the Hickory Heights neighborhood around 3:30 a.m. Monday when they encountered suspicious activity near Dapple Gray Road. Officers attempted to make contact with multiple subjects, who fled on foot and split in opposite directions. Some of the suspects entered a vehicle and fled but were subsequently stopped at Northshore and Razorback Road.

BNPD officers responded to the area of Highway 5 North and Kenwood- Circle K and Exxon stations- just after midnight Saturday following reports of an aggravated robbery with one injured victim. Officers discovered an 85-year-old male subject on scene who had been run over by a vehicle. He was transported for treatment and is in stable condition.

BNPD officers responded to a private property accident at Home Depot- 17060 I-30- just after 6:45 p.m. Friday. The incident involved several juveniles and an unoccupied vehicle that was struck in the parking lot.
Following reports of a sex crime occurring within the city of Benton and subsequent investigation, BNPD officers arrested 46-year-old Timothy Steppach, of Benton, on Thursday, Jan. 25 and charged him with two counts of Sexual Assault Fourth Degree.
Following a Tuesday report of shoplifting at the Benton Walmart, BNPD officers arrested three suspects after they attempted to shoplift at the same location on Wednesday morning. Officers had received information that at least two of the suspects were persons of interest in similar incidents in surrounding jurisdictions, filling carts with unpaid merchandise before exiting the store.
Following reports of a sex crime occurring within the city of Benton and subsequent investigation, BNPD officers arrested 46-year-old Timothy Steppach, of Little Rock, on Thursday, Jan. 25. He faces two counts of Sexual Assault Fourth Degree. The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
In partnership with federal agencies, BNPD detectives were able to make two arrests in a recent elder fraud scheme in which a local victim came close to losing their life savings. Following large amounts of money being intercepted by investigators, BNPD detectives contacted the sender, who thought they were sending the money to the U.S. Treasury following supposed personal information being compromised from a computer virus and a promise from the suspect posing as a U.S.
