Benton Police Department responded to the 400 block of S. Neeley Street just after 8 p.m. Thursday in reference to reports of the occupants of two vehicles shooting at one another. The suspects had fled the scene when officers arrived.
Benton Police Department detectives have identified the suspect in the July 23 hit-and-run incident near the 17700 block of I-30 that took the life of 28-year-old Louisiana resident Dustin Thompson.
The suspect’s identity and charges will be released next week pending further case review. As such, the investigation remains ongoing.

Benton Police Department responded to a possible-shooting call just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday at a North Fourth Street residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive juvenile male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Benton Police Department responded to A2Z Collision in reference to a breaking or entering in progress at approximately 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old David Welch of Benton, was apprehended at the scene.
Benton Police Department responded to an aggravated robbery at Dollar General (3801 Benton Parkway) just before 8:30 a.m. Thursday. The suspect, 21-year-old Deamonte Terry, of Benton, was apprehended near Alcoa and Cyanamide Road after a brief foot pursuit. He is charged with Aggravated Robbery, a class Y felony.

The victim in Wednesday’s shooting at McDonald’s on I-30/Alcoa, a 34-year-old female, is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery. Benton Police Department responded to a call of shots fired at approximately 7 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald’s- 20726 I-30 and discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect, 59-year-old Lawrence Parrin, of Benton, had fled the scene.
