BNPD officers responded to the North Service Road at McCright St. just before 2 a.m. Sunday for a pedestrian vs. vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased male victim, 30-year-old Jacob Bridges of Benton.

BNPD officers responded to the Military Road overpass just after 7:30 a.m. Saturday after reports of an unconscious person being located nearby. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased male subject. No identity is being released at this time, and a cause of death is not yet determined.

Benton Police Department invites the community to form a team, dress in costumes (optional) and take the plunge at Hurricane Lake in support of Special Olympics Arkansas athletes. The 2020 “Be Bold Get Cold” Saline County Polar Plunge will take place Saturday, Jan. 25. Registration begins at 9 a.m., costume parade and awards at 10 a.m. and the anticipated plunge at 10:15 a.m.

With the holiday shopping season in full swing, Benton Police Department wants residents to be on high alert for scams of all kinds. In the past few weeks, at least three instances have been reported, but attempts and non-reported incidents are suspected to be a much higher number.

Benton Police Department responded to the Carpenter Street overpass just before 8:30 Monday evening in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. A female victim, 54-year-old Heidi Taylor of Benton, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
