Benton Police Department officers responded just after 1 a.m. Thursday to a report of two gunshot victims being treated at a local hospital. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult victims had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Benton Police Department responded to a welfare concern call just after 2 a.m. Saturday at a Grayson Drive residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered 28-year-old Minnie Fernow of Benton deceased due to traumatic injuries.

The Benton Police Department will conduct active intruder training from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, June 17 through Thursday, June 20 at Benton Junior High School. Nearby residents should be prepared to hear louder-than-usual noises—to include gunfire, music, and screaming.

There is no cause for alarm, however, according to Captain Kevin Russell.

BNPD MAKES ARREST IN HIT-AND-RUN PEDESTRIAN VS. VEHICLE ACCIDENT

Benton Police Department arrested 31-year-old Christopher Jenkins, of Benton, Thursday afternoon in connection with the hit-and-run accident occurring May 18 just beyond exit 118 on the north service road in Benton. The victim is still hospitalized and recovering.
