Ronnie Davidson joined the Benton Police Department in 2007 with three years of previous law enforcement experience.

He became a Field Training Officer for our department in his first year, and in 2009, he was selected to become a member of the SWAT Team. That same year, he transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division, where his main focus was missing and exploited children and digital forensics. He assisted the FBI's Denied Innocence Task Force as a deputized U.S. Marshall and worked on investigations regarding human trafficking.

In 2014, he graduated from the U.S. Secret Service National Computer Forensics Institute as a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner. Along with this certification, the Benton Police Department received specialized equipment from the Secret Service, which continues to benefit our citizens today. The training he received from the Secret Service jumpstarted our department's digital forensics capabilities, which began in a renovated storage closet and has since developed into a robust Digital Forensics Lab specializing in video enhancement and computer and cellphone forensics. That same year, he was assigned as an Assistant Tactical Team Leader on the SWAT Team, later becoming one of two Tactical Team Leaders.

In 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. In 2017, Sergeant Davidson was named the Saline County and Central Arkansas Officer of the Year for halting a bank robbery in December 2016. He also received the Congressional Medal of Valor for his actions on that day.

In 2018, Sgt. Davidson was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the Patrol Division. He is a recipient of the 2022 Unit Achievement Award, the 2021 Leadership Award and the 2022 Chief’s Award.

In 2023, Lt. Davidson was reassigned to the Special Investigations Division. That same year, he also donated a kidney to his son, BNPD Patrol Sergeant Brett Davidson.

He has served as the Benton FOP President since 2017, an organization that not only advocates for our officers but is largely a charitable organization that gives back to our community.

Captain Davidson will assume the duties of the Investigations Captain.

We congratulate him and thank him for his many dedicated years of service to BNPD and the City of Benton.
