Suspect Arrested for Eleventh DWI Since 1995

  On 9/11/13, at approximately 4:10 PM, officers were dispatched to a reckless vehicle call in the area of Wright Ave. and Shenandoah Road.  While in-route to the call, officers were informed by dispatchers the vehicle had struck a street sign on Wright Avenue.  

 

Suspect Arrested for Rape Involving a Juvenile Victim

On 9/10/13, at approximately 6:10 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department took a report of a possible rape involving a female juvenile victim.  Detectives then took over the investigation and evidence indicated that a rape had taken place.  

 

Subject Who Reported Rape Arrested for Filing False Report

  On 8/19/13, at approximately 3:30 PM, officers responded to an address on Watts Road on report of a rape.  Upon their arrival they made contact with the alleged victim in the case, identified as Kristin Johnson (24 YOA), who informed them an unknown suspect had broken into her residence and raped her just shortly before calling us.

  Over the next few days, the Benton Police Department is giving away pens that contain USB drives built in to them to every student in the Benton School District from the 8th through the 12th grade.  In addition to being a functional pen, each one of them has a detachable 2 GB USB flash drive built into it.

  Unfortunately, we have seen an increase in the number of vehicle break-ins and thefts in recent months.  Although this can sometimes be attributed to the usual uptick of crime in the warmer months, this doesn’t mean you can’t do some things to help prevent it and not become a victim of the criminal element who choose to steal from others rather than work like the rest of us.
