On 9/20/13, at approximately 12:10 AM, an officer observed a vehicle driving from the rear of Williams Tire, which was closed. Given recent thefts from the business and the time of night, the officer then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle to investigate further.
On 9/19/13, at approximately 7:30 AM, an officer observed a suspicious vehicle driving through two closed car lots on Military Road. Due to recent incidents of vehicle break-ins and thefts the officer attempted to initiate contact with the driver.

Wow, what a start to our school year. Your School Resource Officers responded to over 107 calls for service at our campuses in the last ten days. Most of these calls were handled by the SRO’s without incident and most were minor in nature but they are busy busy busy. The kids and staff continue to be motivated and purpose driven and are displaying great attitudes and camaraderie.

It is that time of the year again when we at the Benton Police Department will be hosting our annual citizen’s police academy. For the second year we will be conducting a citizen’s police academy geared towards women and safety aspects associated with them.
On 9/10/13, at approximately 4:40 PM, officers were dispatched to the area of the Carpenter Street Overpass of I-30 on report of a possible aggravated assault. Officers were informed by dispatchers that it was a road rage incident involving a suspect pointing a handgun towards the caller and was last seen heading east on I-30.
