Disturbance Turns Into Felony Arrest

On August 16th, at approximately 8:47 PM, officers responded to the Days Inn on report of a disturbance.  Upon their arrival they made contact with the victim who had been threatened by a suspect with a knife.

Officers with the Benton Police Department, in conjunction with Union Pacific Railroad, participated in Operation Lifesaver on August 13th and 14th.  Operation Lifesaver’s mission is to end collisions, deaths and injuries at highway-rail grade crossings and on rail property through a nationwide network of volunteers who work to educate people about rail safety.

Drug Dealer Funds Help Make School Zones Safer in Benton

Recently, one of the Benton Police Department School Resource Officers, Officer Jackson, came up with an idea to help make school zones safer.  The idea was to place ‘No Cell Phone Use in School Zone’ signs up in every loading/unloading zone in the school district.  

 

School Resource Supervisor Secures Funding for Needed Equipment

Recently, the school resource officer supervisor, Sgt. Lisa Stuart, was at the Benton Alternative Learning Center (ALC) speaking with the staff about the children.  She learned that enrollment was up due to some children transferring in from other programs and there wasn’t enough equipment for the PE classes until more could possibly be bought later in the year.
