During the course of their investigation, detectives with the Benton Police Department determined there were two additional suspects related to the bank robbery that took place at Bank of the Ozarks on 5/15/14.
On 5/15/14, at approximately 12:37 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to Bank of the Ozarks (1216 Hwy 35 N.) on report of a robbery. Upon their arrival it was determined a robbery had taken place and detectives responded to the scene.

On 5/12/14, at approximately 12:45 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to a burglary in progress on River Heights Drive. A suspect was seen in the area, but attempts to locate him at the time of the burglary were unsuccessful.

On 5/9/14, at approximately 8:30 AM, officers from the Benton Police Department responded to an address on Fifth Street on report of a disturbance. Upon their arrival, they made contact with two victims in the case who said a suspect kidnapped one of them and caused physical harm to both of them.

The Benton Police Department recently received a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP), or Armored Rescue Vehicle (ARV), vehicle through the U.S. Military 1033 Program. The 1033 Program allows law enforcement to pay a small annual cost to be able to receive access to excess military equipment at no further charge to the agency.

Every month this year the Benton Police Department will have a different initiative that we will call attention to in relation to a public safety issue. The month of April was ‘Anti-Drug April’, where we focused on different enforcement and education activities to raise awareness about the damage drugs can cause in our community.
