On 5/15/14, at approximately 12:37 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to Bank of the Ozarks (1216 Hwy 35 N.) on report of a robbery. Upon their arrival it was determined a robbery had taken place and detectives responded to the scene.
Detectives started processing the scene for evidence and information gathered by them indicated the suspect in the robbery was Keyontae Johnson (18 YOA) of Pine Bluff. Information on Johnson was sent out to other agencies in Central Arkansas and he was apprehended by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 1:50 PM.
During the commission of the robbery, Johnson displayed a pistol towards a bank clerk and obtained an undisclosed amount of money. Johnson was seen leaving the bank in a grey Ford Taurus traveling towards Interstate 30.
Johnson is believed to be a suspect in another bank robbery in Little Rock and he was transferred from Jefferson County to the Little Rock Police Department. Benton Detectives are continuing the investigation and are filing an affidavit charging him with Aggravated Robbery and Theft of Property in this case.
