BNPD LAUNCHES ‘NOPE TO DOPE’ INITIATIVE

Benton badge 1The number of deaths from drug overdose has risen dramatically in the U.S. in recent years, reaching epidemic proportions, and is now the top cause of accidental deaths. To combat and educate the public on the dangers of drug abuse, whether it is illegal narcotics or prescribed medications, the Benton Police Department is launching the “Nope to Dope” initiative.

Clayton Bradley Charles 42At approximately 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to 2121 Alcoa Road for a report of multiple shots fired. Officers found a victim with a non-life threatening injury to the leg.

Anglin keith barton 52At approximately 1:27 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to Walmart on Interstate 30 in reference to a theft that just occurred in which the suspect had fled on foot. Officers located the suspect matching the description inside a bathroom at the nearby Murphy USA.
