CID LIEUTENANT NAMED 2016 OFFICER OF THE YEAR
Terry Fuller, the veteran officer and lieutenant of the Benton Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID), has been named the 2016 Officer of the Year. The recipient, selected by the Chief’s Committee, is an officer who made the “most significant contribution to the overall success of the police department” during the year.
The Benton Police Department congratulates Officer Brett Davidson upon graduation Friday from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA) in Camden, Ark. Before attending ALETA, Davidson served as a cadet at the department.
The amount of traffic accidents and traffic citations decreased during the Below 100 initiative in March. However, Chief Kirk Lane said there is still ample opportunities to continue that decrease in an effort to make Benton roadways safer.
Benton Police Chief Kirk Lane has been honored with a Mayoral Distinguished Medal of Merit by Benton Mayor David Mattingly. The mayor said there isn’t a better person to bestow the inaugural award to than the leader of the Benton Police Department.
Operation Medicine Cabinet XIV will be dedicated to the late William Christian Doerhoff and WillsWork.org. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., but the location will be announced at a later date.
Several awards were presented to Benton Police Department officers at a ceremony held Friday at the Benton Municipal Complex. The awards marked accomplishments made in 2016, including officers being recognized for life-saving heroics.
