Starting now through the spring, the Benton Police Department will be conducting a traffic enforcement and education campaign. The focus of this program will be conducting traffic enforcement in high traffic areas with a special emphasis on DWI/DUI, including sobriety checkpoints and seat belt enforcement.

On 1/31/14, at approximately 3:00 AM, an officer with the Benton Police Department was conducting a foot patrol of Bailey’s Trailer Park (601 N. Summit Rd.) when he observed a subject wearing all dark clothing walking near wood line behind a trailer.

Detectives with the Benton Police Department have made an arrest in relation to the recent armed robbery of the Home Run Gas Mart (1415 Military Rd.) that occurred on 1/26/14.  The suspect in the case, Walter Wilkerson (23 YOA) of Benton, was taken into custody on 1/30/14 without incident.
