DEATH OF NEWBORN LEADS TO MOTHER’S ARREST AND MURDER CHARGE

On June 5, 2018, detectives with the Benton Police Department were called to Saline Memorial Hospital to investigate the death of an infant born at approximately 24 weeks gestation. Their investigation led to a local motel where the medical call originated. It is believed the mother, Angela Miller, of Oregon, had injected methamphetamine while staying at the motel prior to the birth of her child.

After receiving medical treatment, Miller was taken into custody for Introduction of a Controlled Substance into the Body of Another Person, a Class Y Felony, and Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A Felony.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
