TRAFFIC STOP FINDS STOLEN VEHICLE SPRAY PAINTED, TWO ARRESTED

Squires Tanner CollageSMALLLLLLLLLAt approximately 4:01 p.m. Monday, Officers with the Benton Police Department made a traffic stop on Military Road and it was discovered the older model truck, which was recently spray painted black, had been reported stolen. The driver, 40-year-old William Jeremy Squires of Benton was found to have an active warrants with Benton Police Department and the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.

The passenger, 36-year-old Aaron Jason Tanner of Huntsville was also discovered to be on parole with an active warrant. During a search of Tanner, a baggie containing suspected methamphetamine and a suspected forged check was found. Squires and Tanner were taken into custody and transported to the Saline County Detention Center.
Squires faces charges of Theft by Receiving, class D felony; Theft of Property, class A misdemeanor; No Proof of Insurance; Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License; and Violation of Child Support Enforcement. Tanner faces charges of 2nd degree Forgery, class C felony; and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), class D felony.

The suspects could face further charges as the investigation continues.
