Recently during two separate incidents, officers with the Benton Police Department arrested two suspects found to be in possession of stolen motorcycles and other felonies. The two suspects are identified as Dave Caple (37 YOA) of Benton and Bobby Gill (34 YOA) of Hot Springs.
During the first incident that took place on 7/31/15, officers observed a silver and black sport motorcycle driving on the I-30 N. Service Road. A check of the license plate on the motorcycle revealed that it returned on a black Harley Davidson cruiser style cycle.
The bike was stopped by officers on Hwy 229 just off of the 114 Exit of I-30 and contact was made with the operator, Bobby Gill. Subsequent investigation by the officers revealed the motorcycle had been painted over the factory yellow and had been reported stolen out of Hot Springs.
Gill was placed under arrest and was found have a suspended license and also to be in possession of a pistol. A check revealed that Gill is a convicted felon and isn’t allowed to possess a firearm, therefore the pistol was seized and entered into evidence.
The second incident took place later on 7/31/15 whenever officers conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle had been reported stolen out of Little Rock. The motorcycle was stopped on South Street and contact was made with the operator, Dave Caple, and a passenger.
Subsequent investigation also revealed that Caple was found to be in possession of suspected Methamphetamine and Xanax pills. A glass pipe commonly used to ingest illegal narcotics was also found and all of the items were taken and entered into evidence. Caple was placed under arrest at the scene and the passenger was released without any charges.
Gill is charged with Theft by Receiving, Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons Prohibited (Felon), Driving on Suspended, and Carrying a Weapon. Caple is charged with Theft by Receiving, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription (Xanax), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both suspects were taken to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing. This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
