On 12/7/14, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to a call at the Day’s Inn (17701 I-30) on report of a person refusing to leave the premises.
Upon their arrival, officers made contact with the subject refusing to leave, identified as Delia Cruz (31 YOA) of Benton. A check was conducted on Cruz’s information which revealed she had an active warrant for her arrest.
Cruz was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing. While being processed into the detention facility, a small baggie fell out of Cruz’s clothing which contained suspected Methamphetamine in it.
Cruz was charged with the original warrant and also with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Furnishing, Possessing, or Using Prohibited Articles, which is for attempting to introduce the suspected Methamphetamine into the detention facility.
