Williams Michael Cory SCSODetectives with the Benton Police Department have arrested a suspect for the June 16 armed robbery of the Kum & Go store on Lincoln Road. Michael Cory Williams, 29, of Harrison was arrested this week by St. Francis County Sheriff’s deputies following a pursuit in which Williams was reportedly driving a vehicle stolen in St. Louis, MO.; struck a deputies cruiser, and led officers on a short foot pursuit.

On June 16, officers responded to the Kum & Go store for an armed robbery. Store surveillance cameras showed a white man wearing a black hoodie with a logo in the chest area, khaki pants, white shoes, and a white fabric hanging out of the left rear pocket, entered the store brandishing a handgun and demanded money. The suspect later fled in a white Toyota Camry toward Bryant on the I-30 south service road.

Based on information and evidence obtained during their investigation, detectives were able to determine that Williams was a suspect in the case. Williams was transported from St. Francis to the Saline County Detention Center. He faces charges of Aggravated Robbery, class Y felony; Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons, class D felony; Unauthorized Use of Another’s Property to Facilitate a Crime, class B felony; Theft of Property, class A misdemeanor; Theft by Receiving, class C felony; and Aggravated Assault, class D felony.

Williams is suspected by other agencies in Arkansas to be involved with an Arson case and two other Armed Robbery cases. He is also suspected of involvement other crimes in other states. Williams is expected to receive more charges from other law enforcement agencies.
