A best sock contest will be held at the Benton Police Department to promote the National Missing Children’s Day and the #RockOneSock campaign.
“I encourage you to find an outrageous sock, put just one on and come join us for pictures and the contest,” Benton Police Chief Kirk Lane said. “This also raises awareness of the thousands of children who are reported missing each year, including hundreds in our own state. If law enforcement and the public work together by sharing information, that is the essential step to returning children to their homes and capturing the suspects involved in abducting children.”
The public is invited to join officers and local leaders at the event, which will begin at 10 a.m. at the Benton Police Department located at 100 S. East Street.
“The Rock One Sock campaign is a simple way to show your support for missing children and their families. We know missing children’s issues do not affect every household, but through Rock One Sock, everyone can show they care.”- National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
