Cooper Aaron WadeA Little Rock resident is facing multiple charges after allegedly firing multiple shots in a Benton neighborhood. About 8:50 p.m. Sunday, officers from the Benton Police Department responded to Hiland Place for reports of gunfire. A witness said while in the backyard he heard a gunshot and noticed a white male with numerous tattoos standing on another person’s property holding a rifle.

The witness told officers he knew the man as “Wade” and that Wade began shooting the rifle continuously. The witness said he got low to the ground, crawled back to the front of his home, got everyone out and ran to another home to call 911. The witness said the suspect fled on a bicycle with a black bag large enough to hold a rifle.

A suspect matching the description was arrested the following day by officers. Officers took 53-year-old Aaron Wade Cooper of Little Rock into custody. Cooper faces charges of Aggravated Assault, class D felony; Fleeing, class C misdemeanor; Discharging a Firearm in City Limits, violation of Benton City Ordinance 6-2009; and Theft by Receiving, class D felony. Cooper is also expected to face charges from Little Rock Probation and Parole for moving into a residence in Benton without proper notification.

Cooper is currently being held in the Saline County Detention Center and is expected to appear before Benton District Judge Mike Robinson on Wednesday.
