MichaelRobertsonOn 12/7/15, at approximately 2 a.m., officers with the Benton Police Department arrested a convicted felon at Waffle House for allegedly putting two firearms inside a trash can. Officers received information that 29-year-old Michael Dwayne Robertson of Hot Springs was the suspect that placed the guns in the trash. 

 

Officers located Robertson sitting in a booth with two black bags and a handgun case near him. Two handguns were located in a trash can on the other side of the booth. A glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue was located in the bags along with multiple driver’s licenses, credit cards, social security cards and gift cards. 

 

Robertson faces charges of 22 counts of Theft by Receiving, two counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, two counts of Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, and four counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. This is an on-going investigation and detectives are working diligently on various leads related to this case. Additional charges could be possible. 

 

As theft crimes tend to ramp up during the holiday season, remember these tips: Keep all doors locked and windows closed while in our out of your vehicle, keep valuables such as electronics out of sight, and set the vehicle alarm or use an anti-theft device. Don’t leave boxes showing valuable items, such as TV boxes, outside your home for trash pickup. Park in a busy, well-lit area and keep indoor and outdoor lights on an automatic timer.
