Caple Erica DawnOfficers with the Benton Police Department responded to E. Narroway Street for a report of a vehicle breaking and entering, and located a suspect on the same block holding the described stolen items.

At approximately 11:54 p.m. Monday (05-15-2017), victims told officers they found all the doors open on their vehicle. The victims reported items in the vehicle were scattered and a purse and wedding ring were missing.

Officers then noticed a suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Erica Dawn Caple of Benton on the side walk near the victim’s residence. Officers said Caple was holding a purse matching the victim’s description.

Caple gave consent for officers to search the purse due to it matching the description of a purse that was just reported stolen in the area. Officers located paperwork inside the purse with the name of the victim of the breaking and entering report. Officers then noticed Caple wearing a ring matching the description of a ring reported missing in the area.

After Caple was told by officers that she was being detained pending further investigation, she reportedly began screaming and cursing. Caple reportedly continued screaming and kicking after being placed under arrest and put in the back of a patrol car.

Caple was transported to the Saline County Detention Center and faces charges of class A misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, two counts of class D felony Breaking and Entering, and two counts of class A misdemeanor Theft of Property.
