On Sunday, July 27th, officers with the Benton Police Department took a report of a commercial burglary and theft that took place at the hotel construction site located next to the Benton Event Center (17322 Interstate 30). It was determined that various tools had been stolen from the construction site by a white male suspect at approximately 8:00 AM.
On July 28th, at approximately 1:24 AM, an officer conducted a traffic stop on the I-30 Service Road at the intersection with Pinewood Drive. Upon making contact with the driver, later identified as Daniel Crook (45 YOA) of Little Rock, the officer determined he was the suspect was involved in the hotel burglary and theft case taken on July 27th. Crook was then taken into custody without incident.
Detectives then assumed the investigation and Crook was charged with Commercial Burglary, Theft of Property, No Driver’s License, and Use of Another Persons Property to Facilitate a Crime. He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of our department and other charges could be possible as the investigation continues.
