Reports from citizens of a suspicious vehicle led to a Benton man being arrested on multiple charges early Monday. At approximately 3:17 a.m. officers responded to 1317 Central Street for a report of a suspicious vehicle driving behind a vacant house.
Upon arrival officers located the described vehicle and a man, later identified as 33-year-old Jessie Lee Knight Jr. peering around the corner. Knight was reportedly holding two opened knives and dropped them when ordered by officers. During a search of Knight, officers located a glass pipe and a baggie of suspected methamphetamine.
After a short pursuit, Knight reportedly scuffled with officers and an officers received a minor injury. Knight was taken to the Saline County Detention Center and faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 2nd degree Battery, Fleeing on Foot, and Resisting Arrest.
