Officers and staff of the Benton Police Department send condolences to the family of retired Police Officer Thomas “Tom” Ramsey and appreciation for his more than 13 years of service.
“He was a kind-hearted gentleman who was always thought very well of in the community and the department,” said BNPD Manager Cissy Brown. “You just never heard a bad word said about him, and he was a great leader both to the community and to the country.”
Mr. Ramsey retired as Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Army as the State Director, Selective Service System, before joining the BNPD on June 24, 1991. He became a detective for the BNPD on July 24, 1994. He was promoted to sergeant on April 4, 1996. He retired from the department on Sept. 1, 2004 as a patrol sergeant.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant. Mr. Ramsey will have a full-military honor service memorial at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 at the funeral home.
