On 8/30/15, at approximately 10:03 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department (BNPD) attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Shenandoah and Old Congo Road. The vehicle initially slowed down, but then kept travelling towards Congo Road and eventually Military Road.
Officers followed the vehicle with emergency equipment activated and it struck a yield sign on Durwood Dr. at the intersection of W. Lakeview, and ultimately stopped after hitting a tree. Officers then made contact with the driver, identified as Robert Green (32 YOA) of Benton, who was transported to Saline Memorial Hospital for treatment as a result of the crash.
Officers located a large quantity of suspected Methamphetamine, suspected Heroin, and Prescription Narcotics inside the vehicle and on the ground immediately outside the driver side door. There was over 1 ounce of suspected Methamphetamine and 4.1 grams of suspected Heroin collected at the scene, along with related drug paraphernalia commonly used to ingest illegal narcotics.
After his release from the hospital, Green was subsequently taken to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing. Green was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Meth Paraphernalia, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Use of Another Person’s Property to Facilitate a Crime, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Fleeing, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Reckless Driving, Driving on a Suspended License, No Proof of Liability Insurance, and No License Plate Light.
Additionally, Green is an active parolee out of the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections and had an active warrant out of their agency. He is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond and the parole warrant.
