The Benton Police Department is announcing the “Park’n with BNPD” initiative for the month of July that will concentrate on city parks throughout the city. Every month we have a different initiative that officers engage in that is above and beyond their regular enforcement duties.
The focus of “Park’n with BNPD” will be to increase and enhance visible police presence and enforcement in all city parks. It will involve additional uniformed and plainclothes officers getting out into the community on foot and also bikes.
The parks are a very safe environment for children and families currently, but there is always an increased usage during the summertime. We will occasionally have a few individuals who ruin the experience and fun quality atmosphere of the parks so we are therefore putting them on notice that illegal activity will not be tolerated.
We are also looking forward to the large July 4th activities that are being planned by the city and we will be a very visible presence there. See the attached flier for more information or visit the city website at: www.bentonar.org
Chief Kirk Lane would like for people to take pictures with officers they encounter while visiting the parks so that we can post them on social media. They can send it to us via a private message on our Benton Police Department Facebook page or on our official app found on the Apple and Google stores. We will pick the 5 best pictures that are submitted at the end of the month and give them a reward for participating.
During this program, we will be partnering with other agencies to make this a success. Our ultimate goal is to make everyone’s visit to the park one that is the best and safest experience possible, and to ensure their trip is one of making memories without worrying about criminal activity.
