OFFICERS OBSERVE SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR AND ARREST TWO FOR BREAKING INTO VEHICLES

Burrow-KnowltonCollageOn 9/8/14, at approximately 1:17 AM, officers with the Benton Police Department were on patrol in the area of Cox St. at the intersection of Columbia St. when they observed two subjects walking. The officers noticed the subjects started walking quickly as they approached them and observed a women’s purse laying behind a bush near them.  
 
The officers then made contact with the subjects, later identified as Charles Knowlton (20 YOA) of Benton and Michael Burrow (53 YOA) of Benton.  Their investigation determined the purse was found to have been stolen from a car at a nearby residence.  It was also discovered that a cell phone had been left inside the victim’s vehicle which belonged to Knowlton.  
 
While checking the area for other victims, officers found another vehicle that had been broken into as well.  Through information and evidence located it was determined Knowlton was a suspect in both incidents and Burrow was a suspect in one of them.  
 
Both suspect were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing.  Knowlton is charged with two counts of Breaking or Entering and one count of Theft of Property.  Burrow is charged with one count of Breaking or Entering and Theft of Property.
