coin200Recently, three officers with the Benton Police Department graduated from advanced criminal justice programs offered through the Criminal Justice Institute in Little Rock.

Detective Brett Carpenter graduated on June 18th from the Crime Scene Technician Certificate Program (CSTCP).  The CSTCP course of study is a series of six fundamental courses that introduce vital components of crime scene investigation. Participants are required to attend all six weeks of training and successfully pass all six courses to receive their certificate.

Some of courses of study during the CSTCP include; Crime Scene Management and Photography, Latent Print Processing, Biological and Trace Evidence, Impression Evidence, Crime Scene Sketching and Report Writing, and Crime Scene Investigation.  The program was designed to increase the value of forensic evidence in a criminal investigation by emphasizing evidence recognition and appropriate documentation, collection, preservation, and storage of physical evidence recovered from a crime scene.

Lt. Mike Treasitti and Lt. Kevin Russell both graduated from the ARKANSAS LEADER Session XXIII class on June 13th. The ARKANSAS LEADER program, which is designed for chiefs, sheriffs, and other upper-level leaders within a law enforcement agency, takes a multi-faceted, dynamic approach to leadership training. Recognizing that attendees are not only leaders of their agencies but also within their communities, the course is designed to advance individual professional development and education that is transferable to their respective organizations and communities.

This ARKANSAS LEADER program emphasizes challenges of leadership, advancement of the law enforcement profession, development of the individual and agency, and enhancing community relationships. Nationally recognized conference speakers and presenters are selected to ensure law enforcement executives are informed not only of practical procedures for managing their agency, but also of the latest trends, technology, and problems impacting our society.

The ARKANSAS LEADER program is jointly sponsored by the Criminal Justice Institute and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The program has been designated a Command College of the FBI and is by invitation only.
