On 11/11/13, at approximately 4:00 PM, a detective with the Benton Police Department developed information that led him to a possible suspect in the recent vandalism at the Benton Sports Complex. The suspect, later identified as Nicholas McCutcheon (20 YOA) of Benton, was located and interviewed in relation to the incident.

 

    After further investigation, detectives developed evidence linking McCutcheon to the crime and he was subsequently placed under arrest. During the course of the investigation detectives discovered additional information that another suspect, identified as Rickey McConnell (20 YOA) of Benton, was involved in the crime as well. McConnell was also subsequently taken into custody for charges related to the incident.

Both McCutcheon and McConnell are each charged with Criminal Mischief (Felony), 2 counts of Criminal Mischief (Misdemeanor), and Breaking or Entering. Additionally, McCutcheon was also charged with Possession of an Instrument of Crime. Both suspects were transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing without incident.
