BNPD: SUSPECT ARRESTED IN SHOPLIFTING TURNED DISTURBANCE WITH WEAPONS

Benton Police Department responded to 7801 Alcoa Road (Pilot Travel Center) just after 8:45 a.m. Thursday for reports of an employee being stabbed following a shoplifting incident. Prior to officers’ arrival, the suspect fled the scene but was located nearby and taken into custody shortly after with assistance from Bryant Police Department and Arkansas State Police.

The suspect, 31-year-old Tiequail Brown had boarded a bus in Dallas en route to Denver. During a stop at the Pilot Travel Center, Brown became combative when confronted by store employees and asked to return stolen merchandise. One store employee was stabbed by Brown as a result. That employee was transported for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries. Brown was treated for a minor injury sustained in the struggle and was cleared to be transported to jail.

He faces multiple charges stemming from the incident: Aggravated Robbery, a Class Y Felony; three counts of Aggravated Assault, a Class D Felony; Battery 2nd, a Class D Felony; four counts of Terroristic Threatening 1st, a Class D Felony; Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor, Theft of Property, a Class A Misdemeanor; and Obstruction of Governmental Operations, a Class A Misdemeanor.
