Benton Police Department responded to the Carpenter Street overpass just before 8:30 Monday evening in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. A female victim, 54-year-old Heidi Taylor of Benton, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
BNPD Criminal Investigations Division detectives and the Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Preliminary findings suggest no charges will be filed against the driver, but the investigation remains ongoing.
