BNPD February Warrant Initiative a Sweeping Success

Wanted

Benton, Ark.- March 2, 2018— Benton Police Department’s February warrant initiative was a sweeping success according to Chief Scotty Hodges. The initiative, entitled “It’s a Sweetheart of a Deal,” offered individuals with misdemeanor warrants the opportunity to turn themselves in and receive a new court date without jail time.

“We served 208 warrants throughout February, which is a 60 percent increase from our monthly average,” said Hodges. “It’s great to see people taking advantage of these opportunities when they are presented.”

He added that although the extra warrants served does help alleviate some of the active warrants workload, there are still plenty to be served.

“The deal is no longer on the table, but we will be actively seeking wanted individuals, so it’s still best to turn yourself in if you have an active warrant and avoid the embarrassment of being arrested at work or home or additional expenses from tow bills when caught during a traffic stop.”

Individuals with a warrant are encouraged to contact the Benton Police Department at 501-776-5948 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. They can also stop by the department at 114 S. East St, Suite 100 to take care of their warrant in person.
