ALLEGED COUNTERFEITER ARRESTED IN BENTON

Foret Ronald WayneReports from local businesses concerning suspicious currency led to the arrest of a man for more than a dozen counts of forgery for allegedly operating a counterfeit money operation.

At approximately 5 p.m. Sunday, March 13, Walmart employees contacted officers from the Benton Police Department about a man attempting to pay for merchandise with suspect counterfeit money. Officers took 46-year-old Ronald Wayne Foret of Enola, Ark. into custody for 5 counts of Forgery and later posted bond at the Saline County Detention Center.

About 2 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the Best Western hotel for a call about someone using counterfeit money. Officers searched a room occupied by Foret and reported finding a computer, printer, scales, and paper with $20 bills copied on them. Foret was again taken into custody and transported to the Saline County Detention Center.

Foret faces 12 counts of Forgery and 3 counts of Criminal Possession of Forgery Device. The investigation is on-going and more charges could be issued.
