SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED AUTO THEFT

Sparks TimothyOn 1/25/2016 at approximately 7:05 p.m. officers responded to the Benton Walmart, 17309 Interstate 30, for a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim told officers that he parked a 2003 Ford F150 in the parking lot with the doors unlocked at 6:15 p.m. and left the keys in the floorboard before entering the store.


The victim said when he later returned to the parking lot his truck was missing. Video surveillance reportedly showed a white male had entered the victim’s truck, then drove it to an adjacent business parking lot and picked up a white female, and then left the area heading east bound on the I-30 service road.

The vehicle was later recovered at Castle Oak Apartments in Benton where officers reported finding 27-year-old Timothy Sparks sitting inside the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Sparks was found to have outstanding warrants out of Saline County, North Little Rock, Rockport, and Hot Spring County. The vehicle was returned to the victim and Sparks was taken to the Saline County Jail. Sparks faces charges of class D felony Theft by Receiving and misdemeanor Obstructing Governmental Operations.
