BNPD REPLACES TWO SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER VEHICLES WITH NEW ADDITIONS

School will be starting back on August 17th and the Benton Police Department has some new additions to the school resource officer program. Two new vehicles are being added to replace two that were recently retired from duty after many years of service.

The two new school resource officer vehicles are a Dodge Ram and a Chrysler 300.  Both vehicles were asset forfeitures provided courtesy of your local drug dealer.  The wrap on them and emergency equipment were paid for using asset forfeiture, with some of the equipment being recycled from retired patrol units.

These vehicles were chosen due to the unique nature of them not being a traditional police vehicle, which allows for rapport building between officers and students.  This program has proven to be very valuable the past few years with bridging the gap with children and officers.

The wrap design on the vehicles was done in conjunction with High Velocity in Bryant and it’s the same general design as the SRO Ford Mustang and Corvette completed in recent years.
