CHARGES FILED ON SUSPECT INVOVLED IN SHOOTING INCIDENT

JoshTinerOfficers with the Benton Police Department recently obtained a warrant for a suspect, Josh Tiner (26 YOA) of Haskell, in relation to a shooting incident that occurred on 2/16/15.  Tiner was arrested on 2/20/15 and is charged with Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons (Felon).  
 
Based on information and evidence gathered, Tiner and another individual were handling a pistol that belonged to Tiner whenever it discharged and struck him (Tiner).  This is still and on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.

On 2/16/15, at approximately 9:14 AM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to 611 N. Summit Rd. on report of a possible accidental shooting.  
 
Upon their arrival, they made contact with a victim who had a visible gunshot wound to his abdomen and buttocks area.  The victim was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.  
 
According to individuals present, the victim and another person were handling a pistol whenever it discharged once and the bullet struck the victim.  Officers were told they didn’t realize the pistol was loaded when they were handling it.  The investigation is still on-going at this time and charges could be possible in the case.
