Welcome to Benton Arkansas' SIU

 

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is committed to promoting and maintaining community confidence in the City of Benton.  The mission of SIU is to conduct independent, thorough and objective investigations within the City of Benton Arkansas.

 

The Special Investigations Unit is responsible for conducting criminal investigations into the following, but not limited to:

  • Narcotics violations (Investigations ranging from simple possession to pharmaceutical drug diversions)
  • Street level narcotics distribution
  • Vice crimes
  • Chronic neighborhood crimes (as deemed appropriate)

 

The Special Investigations Unit handles investigations that are short term in nature involving little time and expenditure of resources to those involving many agencies and outside resources.  The City of Benton Police Department SIU has established excellent working relationships with local, state and federal agencies.

 

The Special Investigations Unit operates with strict confidentiality and offers the public the ability to report suspicious activity "drug activity" etc., through an anonymous tips line (315-TIPS) or by speaking directly with an investigator at (776-5948).

Recently, we at the Benton Police Department have been helping to educate about, and eradicate, illegal prescription drug use in our community.  We will continue to do so, but I would like to take a moment to mention another problem we are starting to encounter.

Benton Police Launch Next Phase with Rx Drop-Off Box Print

The Benton Police Department is officially unveiling an after hours prescription drop-off box at the police department located at 114 S. East St., Suite 100 in Benton.  The drop-off box is the next phase in the departments venture to help educate citizen’s on the danger that the misuse of prescription drugs can pose, and to provide them a secure place for them to safely dispose of unused medicine.

Operation Medicine Cabinet Print

The Benton and Bryant Police Departments, and the Saline County Sheriff’s Office announce the launch of Operation Medicine Cabinet on Feb 6th.  Operation Medicine Cabinet is a one day event where citizens can drop off their unused prescription medicines they have laying around their homes.
