DNA EVIDENCE LINKS SUSPECT TO NUMEROUS VEHICLE BREAK-INS AND THEFTS

DevinWestonOn 4/21/14, officers with the Benton Police Department took 12 reports of vehicle break-ins and thefts in the area around Millbrook Drive and Heritage Farms neighborhood.  Per standard procedures, officers collected and processed potential evidence from the vehicles.
 
This evidence was submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for processing and evaluation.  As a result of the evidence submitted, Devin Weston (30 YOA) of Garland County was developed as a potential suspect in the rash of crimes.  
 
Detectives followed up on this evidence and were able to charge Weston with twelve counts of Breaking or Entering and four counts of Theft of Property in relation to these cases.  He is currently in the Garland County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Benton for these charges. This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
