ACCIDENT CALL LEADS TO DRUG ARREST AND OTHER CHARGES

MarcSheely1On 2/26/14, at approximately 8:20 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to an accident call on the I-30 North Service Road near Sharon Road.  Upon their arrival it was determined it was a roll-over accident with injury and the driver was transported to the hospital.
 
Contact was made later with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Marc Sheely (32 YOA) of North Little Rock, who informed officers he had swerved to avoid an accident with an unknown object when he lost control of his vehicle.  Upon further investigation, it was determined that Sheely was possibly under the influence of illegal narcotics at the time of the accident.  
 
Sheely was released from the hospital and placed under arrest for DWI, Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (suspected Methamphetamine), Drug Paraphernalia, Careless Driving, Driving on Suspended License, No Proof of Liability Insurance, and for warrants of out of other departments. This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
