BNPD OFFICERS SOLVE TWO CASES INCLUDING ALLEGED ARMED ROBBERY

Jeffery-GeorgeCollage1On 2/10/14, officers with the Benton Police Department took a report where the victim reportedly was robbed at gunpoint of their phone and purse at Dogwood Lakes Apartments.

Then on 2/11/14, officers took a report of a suspect stealing the cell phone of a customer leaving the Wal-Mart Supercenter (17309 I-30). According to the victim in this case, the suspect feigned an emergency and asked to use the phone before taking off with it. The suspect vehicle description was a gold colored Hyundai which matched the car description in the Dogwood Lakes case.

After an extensive search of the area, an officer located the vehicle and suspect, later identified as Marvin George (36 YOA), in the parking lot of Office Depot on Military Road.  It was determined through information and evidence gathered that George was the suspect in both cases and he was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

During further investigation and interviewing of George and the original victim at Dogwood Lakes, it was determined by detectives the victim was unsure if the suspect was armed or not at the time of the incident.  Another suspect involved in the first incident, identified as Toni Jeffery (48 YOA), was found to already be incarcerated on unrelated charges at the time of the second incident.

George is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Carrying a Weapon (knife), 2 counts of Theft of Property, and Unauthorized Use of Another
