OFFICERS RESPONSE TO GUNFIRE LED TO ARREST

Lee Ryan Shane 28At approximately 6:20 a.m. Monday, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to the I-30 Travel Park in reference to shots fired. Witnesses told officers that during a welfare check 28-year-old Ryan Shane Lee of Benton approached them inside a camper trailer aggressively while holding a 9 mm handgun.

Witnesses said as Lee attempted to raise the handgun a bullet discharged, and they exited the camper to call 911. Lee reportedly fled the area as officers responded. Officers discovered there was a 3-year-old child inside the camper during the incident.

Lee later turned himself in at the Benton Police Department. Lee is facing charges of Aggravated Assault and 1st degree Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, both class D felonies. Lee is currently being held in the Saline County Detention Center and is expected to appear before Benton District Judge Mike Robinson on Wednesday.
