SHOPLIFTING CALL TURNS INTO FELONY ARREST FOR TWO

Floyd-Jacks

On 9/15/15, at approximately 4:25 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to Wal-Mart (17309 I-30) on report of a shoplifting call.  Upon their arrival, they made contact with store employees who advised they had caught a suspect shoplifting.

Officers then spoke with the suspect in the case who provided them with fictitious documents in an attempt to hide their identity.  The suspect was later identified as Lincoln Floyd (44 YOA) of Benton, and was found to have two felony warrants out of Oklahoma.

Floyd attempted to run from officers at one point, but was taken into custody soon after without further incident. Officers also spoke with another suspect associated with Floyd, identified as Sue Jacks (45 YOA) of Benton, about Floyd’s identity.  It was determined Jacks provided officers with false information in an attempt to protect Floyd’s true identity.

Floyd and Jacks were both arrested and transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing.  Floyd was charged with Forgery, Non-Financial Identity Theft, Shoplifting, 3rd Degree Escape, and Obstructing a Governmental Operation.  Additionally, Floyd was also being held for the two warrants out of Oklahoma.  Jacks was charged with Hindering Apprehension.  This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be possible.
