SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE COUNTS OF COUNTERFEITING

WendellRodgersOn 9/1/15, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to Wal-Mart (17309 I-30) on report of counterfeit currency.  Upon their arrival, they were informed by employees that an individual had passed a counterfeit one hundred dollar bill and that he was still in the store. 
 
Officers located the suspect, later identified as Wendell Rodgers (20 YOA), inside the store and spoke with him about the counterfeit money.  Based on information and evidence they gathered, they attempted to place Rodgers under arrest.  Rodgers attempted to resist arrest, but was eventually placed into custody without further incident.  Ten additional counterfeit one hundred dollar bills were also located in Rodgers possession.  
 
Rodgers was taken to the Benton Police Department for follow-up investigation by detectives, and subsequently transported to the Saline County Detention Facility.  He was charged with 11 counts of Counterfeiting-Forgery and 1 count of Resisting Arrest.  This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be possible.
