TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO FELONY DRUG ARREST FOR ONE SUSPECT

AlexanderHill-1On 1/29/15, at approximately 11:04 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on 4th Street.  Upon making contact with the occupants, officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.  
 
Contact was made with two passengers and the driver, identified as Alexander Hill (21 YOA) of Benton, and suspected marijuana was found in his possession.  Subsequent investigation yielded a pipe that contained suspected Methamphetamine and also four Oxycodone pills for which Hill didn’t have a prescription.  The passengers were not charged and were released at the scene.  
 
Hill was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing.  He is charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Drugs-Class II (Felony), and Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana (misdemeanor).  This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
