Detectives with the Benton Police Department are currently investigating the thefts of realtor lockboxes.  There have been four reported thefts of the lockboxes within the past week.

The lockboxes are commonly used to hold the key for clients that are attempting to sale their homes.  These have been stolen from the Hurricane Lake Estates and Heritage Farms subdivisions in the city.  The criminals are targeting homes that are for sale and could possibly be anticipating using the keys at a later date to burglarize the residences.

We are asking that citizens stay alert to what is taking place in their neighborhoods in an attempt help us catch those responsible.  If anything or anyone looks suspicious you are strongly encouraged to contact the Benton Police Department.  When in doubt whether its serious enough dial 911 or not, it is recommended that you do so because we would rather investigate something that turns out to be nothing versus missing out on catching the suspects.

Anyone that has information relating to these thefts they are encouraged to contact the Benton Police Department at 778-1171 or leave a tip at 315-TIPS.
