Benton Police Arrest Subject for Aggravated Assault Print

On June 22nd, at approximately12:00 A.M., officers with the Benton Police Department responded to 409 Algood St. on report of a disturbance with a weapon. Upon their arrival it was determined that a subject, later identified as Michael Chambers (W/M, 39 YOA), had broken into the home and fired a pistol.  

Mr. Chambers forced his way into the residence and became involved in a physical altercation with two adult individuals in the home.  Mr. Chambers struck both occupants numerous times with the handle of a pistol and fired two rounds into the floor in the house.   All three subjects were acquaintances with each other prior this incident taking place.   

There were no direct injuries to anyone caused by the pistol being fired.  Both victims at the scene were treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

Chambers was charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Assault (D Felony), Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (B Felony) due to there being a juvenile in the residence, Aggravated Residential Burglary (Y Felony), and 2 counts of 1st Degree Battery (B Felony).  He was transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing.
