Recently, detectives with the Benton Police Department arrested Matthew Sporer (19 YOA) of Benton for charges related to a burglary and multiple theft of property cases.
The first incident took place on 6/9/14, when officers took a report of theft of property from an address on Hickory Ridge. During the crime there were multiple guns and a crossbow that were stolen from the residence. On 6/16/14, officers took a report of a tractor and an ATV being stolen from the Benton Parks building located at Holland Ballpark.
Detectives were able to obtain information and evidence that led them to Sporer as the suspect in both cases. Sporer was arrested on 7/8/14 and is charged with Commercial Burglary, and 7 counts of Theft of Property. This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be possible.
