The Jacksonville, North Little Rock, and Benton Police Departments are announcing the upcoming release of a mobile app for each of their respective agencies. These apps are the latest tech-forward effort and the first of their kind in Central Arkansas for a law enforcement agency. The app consolidates all of the departments’ content and services into one place where citizens can gain an array of information that will empower them to fight crime in their communities. It will allow them to view inmates currently in jail, submit a photo or video tip anonymously, and receive emergency messages and alerts from the department. Other features include current news, a list of department contacts, directions and maps to department facilities, and information on sex offenders and missing children.
The app will also allow for departments to push out timely and important information to a geographically specific area or neighborhood. This will allow for quick relay of pertinent crime information or hazardous situations to those that it could affect. It will also have an upcoming events feature and it will allow citizens to connect with “one-click” access to the departments on their social media platforms as well.
The app is not meant to replace existing forms of communication, but instead to supplement all of the pre-existing channels of information. It provides a one-stop shop for information from the agencies and it’s another method to put news and critical public safety updates into the hands of everyone in the community. The BNPD app was paid for entirely using drug seized funds.
The mobile apps are for all Apple and Android based operating systems, including both phones and tablet devices. The apps can be downloaded for free by searching for the respective agency on either the iTunes or Google Play stores. The app for the North Little Rock Police Department is still in the development stage and will be rolled out soon.
